Gerry was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Frank and Gwendolyn Giovenazzi, who preceded her in death, along with her sister Elizabeth Trotter and her husband, Irving H. Rubin. She raised her family in Hackettstown, NJ, and later made her home in Bangor, PA.
Gerry is survived by her sister, Barbara Trento, and her husband Chuck Trento, as well as her brother-in-law, Francis Trotter. She leaves behind her three cherished daughters: Elizabeth Rossi and her husband Anthony, Deborah Buchanan and her husband Bucky, and Pauline Rubin.
She was a devoted and proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Michael Rossi and his partner Laura Jaycox, Staci Valverde and her husband Daniel, Sean Rossi and his wife Lindsey, Jacob Buchanan Dean and his wife Brianna, Samantha Lovell and her husband Lucas, William Buchanan Dean, Cameron Buchanan Dean, and Ari Rubin. Her legacy lives on through her four great-grandchildren: Emerson, Oakley, and Arrow Valverde, and Angelo Rossi.
Gerry was a compassionate and talented woman whose life was marked by creativity, service, and unwavering faith. She had a gift for crocheting and crafts, creating handmade treasures that brought joy and comfort to many. Her career reflected her giving spirit—working for years as a nurse’s aide and hairstylist for the elderly at the House of the Good Shepherd, where she provided care with dignity and grace. She also worked for over a decade at the Community Market in Hackettstown, NJ, preparing delicious meals and catering weddings and family events.
A devoted member of Richmond United Methodist Church in Bangor, PA, Gerry was deeply engaged in her church community. She supported outreach programs for the homeless, contributed to numerous church events, and attended Monday Bible study faithfully—always sharing her love for Scripture and fellowship.
Gerry was an avid collector of dolls and Gone with the Wind memorabilia. She was also a lifelong movie enthusiast and Disney superfan—obsessed with all things Disney and filled with childlike joy every time she talked about it. She was a die-hard fan of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and the Philadelphia Eagles, proudly cheering them on through every season.
She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a proud godmother to Brianna Ottino and Laura Reynolds. Known for her open heart and boundless generosity, Gerry never met a stranger and had many dear friends who cherished her. The depth of love shown to her throughout her life speaks volumes about the love she gave.

My dear aunt Gerry ( who always got mad at me when I called her Geraldine ) !!! I was 11, you were 21. You married my uncle, and right away I loved you ❤️. You and me always had a special bond, which grew more with each passing year. You were so much more than an Aunt to me. You were deep in my heart and a special part of my life. I loved you more than any words could say. Without you a part of me has died. I will miss you each and every day of my life.
